RV Insurance Coverages

RV insurance offers much more than an auto policy could!

Do not assume your RV is covered by your auto insurance, it likely does not offer comprehensive coverage such as Emergency Expenses:

  • If you need a place to stay while your RV is getting repaired
  • Personal Items Replacement coverage to protect your jewelry, electronics or clothing
  • Vacation Liability to protect you while your RV is parked and used as a temporary residence

Standard Coverage

Coverage that you purchase to reimburse anyone you injure in a vehicle accident.  This coverage pays medical cost, lost wages, sickness, pain and suffering or death related to the accident.  It also pays for legal fees that may result from the accident.

Property damage is part of the liability coverage.  This coverage pays for damage to other vehicles or property that may have been damage in a loss.

This coverage is designed to protect you and your passengers from financial costs from someone who does not have insurance or who does not have enough insurance.  Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage includes medical or death expenses as well as pain and suffering resulting from your loss.  This coverage does vary by state.

Provides medical coverage for the insured, and any passengers of the insured vehicle as a result of a vehicle accident.

Towing/Roadside Labor will provide reasonable towing reimbursement to the nearest qualified repair facility.  It will also provide necessary labor at the time and place of disablement due to mechanical or electrical breakdown.

Provides physical damage coverage in the event your RV is damage or destroyed due to an act of god.  This includes wind, hail, hurricane, lightning, fire, Flood, Theft, Vandalism or impact with an animal.  Comprehensive coverage is generally optional and only required if there is a loan on the RV.

Collision coverage covers repairs for damage sustained to your RV due to a collision accident.  This could include a collision with another vehicle, mailbox, sign, utility pole or any other obstacle or stationary object.  Collision coverage is generally optional and only required if there is a loan on the RV.

Specialty coverage

Total Loss Replacement coverage, or Purchase Price coverage, is where the insurance company will pay to replace your RV with a new same make, class, size and type with comparable equipment (or as close as possible).  Total loss replacement coverage is only available on previously untitled RVs that are up to 1 model year old with no pre-existing damage.  This coverage is available for the first 5 model years.

Agreed Value coverage is where the insurance company will pay the agreed value of your RV in the event of a total loss.  Agreed Value Coverage may require a certified appraisal within the last 3 years.

Diminishing Deductible reduces your Comprehensive and Collision deductible by 25% for every loss-free year.  After your fourth claim free year the deductible will be reduced to $0.

Windshield claims are the most common RV insurance claim.  If you have full glass coverage it will provided you with a $0 deductible for windshield replacement.

This coverage is to protect your personal belongings inside and outside your RV up to $1,000 per item. Personal belongings are any removable items that are not permanently attached to the RV. (Cloths, cooking utensils, bicycles etc.) This coverage is very important to full time RVER’S because they do not have a homeowners’ policy to protect their belongings.

Some of the Specialty RV Insurance policies offer very inexpensive Mexico Coverage.  This extends Comprehensive and Collision coverage into Mexico on the RV/5th Wheel/Travel Trailer.  Repairs must be made in the United States. Mexico Liability insurance must be purchased from a licensed Mexican Insurance Company.  (Mexico liability coverage also sold in our office)

Vacation liability limits are available up to $500,000.  This coverage is also known as campsite liability, which provides bodily injury or property damage that you are legally responsible for as a result of an accident that occurs while the RV is used as a temporary vacation residence.

This coverage is available for policyholders that reside in their RV more than 5 months out of the year or don’t own or lease a residence.

It provides third party liability coverage to protect you in the event you are legally responsible for bodily injury or property damage as a result of your actions.  Coverage limits available up to $1million.

Full Timer’s Medical Payments is medical expenses offered to others who are injured because of an accident while on the property occupied by the RV.  The RV must be permanent or primary residence.
